ATTORNEY

Fred C. Lovejoy

Fred C. Lovejoy is a native of New Hampshire.  His father was an attorney and judge in New Hampshire until he died in 1989.  After living in Connecticut and Colorado, Mr. Lovejoy moved to Michigan in 1983 to attend law school.  He has combined his strict upbringing in New Hampshire with his previous life experiences of working for different businesses and raising a family to obtain an insight which makes him an excellent attorney and counselor for his clients.

Mr. Lovejoy received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of New Hampshire in 1978 and his law degree in 1986 from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.  He graduated cum laude and was a member of the Law Review.  He graduated in the top 10 of his class.  He is admitted to practice in all state courts in Michigan and New Hampshire and in the federal courts in the Western District and Eastern District of Michigan.  He has been admitted to practice pro hac vice in Massachusetts, Ohio and Indiana.

Mr. Lovejoy was initially employed with a smaller but very connected Lansing law firm.  He worked his way up from 1986 until he left in 1998 to open LLO, P.C.  During that employment, Mr. Lovejoy gained valuable litigation and negotiation skills and established valuable relationships with influential and successful individuals throughout the State of Michigan.

Mr. Lovejoy provides each and every client with personalized representation and counsel.  Mr. Lovejoy appreciates the anxiety for his clients which accompanies legal matters whether it is for a business, family or individual matter.  He understands that long protracted litigation is not always necessary nor in the best interests of a client.  While he is a passionate litigator for your rights and interests, he has learned over the years that are there are many forms of winning for a client and that the client’s best interests and circumstances need to control what type of win is best for that particular client.  Often, minimizing a legal dispute and resolving a matter quickly is the best result.  It is not only less expensive, it is less stressful for the client.  He has substantial experience in all aspects of the practice of law to include dispositive motions, hearings, trials and appeals.  Mr. Lovejoy uses that experience to represent his clients and succeed.  Whether by trial or settlement, he will seek the best possible result for you.

Mr. Lovejoy has lived in the Lansing and East Lansing areas for 27 years.  He has been married for 24 years and has three children, one who is attending Michigan State University.  He loves sports and participated in sports since being a youth.  He has been actively involved in his children’s school functions over the last 18 years, to include being involved in fund raising events and coaching youth sports.  He still enjoys skiing, golf and playing tennis.
